The College provides information to the public about:
whether a health care professional is a registered member of the College, the status
of their registration, and any areas of practice specialization such as the provision of restricted activities
the dietitic profession and standards of practice
Quality Care
Registered Dietitians and Registered Nutritionists are experts in the areas of food and human nutrition. The
College of Dietitians of Alberta ensures that members practice according to the
Code of Ethics and the Professional Standards
established for the profession. The Continuing Competence Program provides the public assurance that members of the College
continue to meet high standards of professional competence in their practice. You can expect quality care from members of
the College.
If you have a concern
The role of the College is to ensure that the public is protected from unprofessional conduct or incompetent practice.
Concerns about the practice of Registered Dietitians and Registered Nutritionists are addressed through the College's
complaint process. This process is set out in the Health Professions Act that governs the profession and ensures that
an appropriate course of action is taken in response to the concern. When an individual files a formal complaint with the
College they are notified of the action taken with respect to the complaint.
